To fight poverty and stimulate development by providing free, high quality education, vocational training and health care to the poorest rural communities, with a special emphasis on the situation of the female in rural society.

New school year 2011

In March 2011 we ended our first lower secondary school cycle. Our girls who started with us as our oldest class (class 4) back in 2004 have graduated from the school. Families had hoped that we could continue to the upper-secondary level, however we did not have the resources to expand to that level. Our class 10 girls sat their exams (equivalent of GCSE in the UK) and we are awaiting the results. We wish them very well in their continuing upper secondary education.

2011's New Project!

We are just completing construction of a library and computer room on the first floor above the front entrance of the school, and finally completed the front elevation of the building which has been incomplete hitherto. We are currently fund raising to equip these with books and computers.

The global recession and our school

Sadly we have lost several sponsors since the start of the recession in 2008. We understand that our network of sponsors have been facing difficulties due to the global financial crisis and we thank everyone who has ever contributed to the school.

We would welcome any new support that is available; if interested please email Joanna on jharma@free-school.org

NEW CHILD SPONSORS DESPERATELY NEEDED for 2011-2012!

We have for the last few years been running at a monthly deficit and urgently require new sponsors. If you could spare £5 per month, it would make a world of difference to us, and virtually nothing is taken away from your sponsorship money for administration costs. Please email jharma@free-school.org with any questions and for information about giving or sponsoring.
